Housing 2019: What We Are Looking Forward To.
Europe’s largest, most inclusive housing festival is upon us. And it’s going to be a good one.
With Chartered Institute of Housing’s (CIH) annual conference less than a week away, here’s a rapid rundown of the sessions we are most looking forward to. We hope to see you there.
Welcome Address from Terrie Alafat, Chief Executive, CIH
Setting the stage and scene for the event - and its importance to the next generation of housing communities - will be supply and management of housing across all tenures, housing growth, and homelessness prevention.
Terrie was awarded a CBE in 2013 for her unyielding service to the homeless. At Plentific, we are determined to do our part in supporting homeless people into the trades and building stronger communities through our platform (read it about it here).
Terrie’s work is a great inspiration to us and her welcome address is one we absolutely wouldn’t want to miss.
Building Better, Building Beautiful - The Story So Far
Ok, so we’re big fans - of ‘better design for better places’ - a key theme of the event. But also big fans of Mary Parsons of Places for People, who has spent her prolific career using good design to transform perceptions of place.
Mary’s work on driving lasting regeneration in the most challenging environment gives us key insights into making local communities work better. With the dramatic shifts being witnessed today in social housing and its regulation, we believe Mary’s experiences will be very useful for us and other housing service partners in the communities we help shape with tech.
Driving Digital Transformation through Leadership and Culture Change
How do you become ‘digital by default’? And how do you sustain it? A theme we’re maybe just a little obsessed with (just a little?) is the role tech plays in operational transformation for housing providers. It’s also a key theme of the event and one we’ve been recognised for. Which is why we’re so keen to hear from Ian Wright, Managing Director of the Disruptive Innovators Network.
Ian’s approach to business innovation and its disruptive potential has redefined our outlook on the potential of Plentific’s platform to inform better leadership, better performance and happier customers. So it goes without saying (but we’ll still say it) - he’s one to watch if you’re attending.
A Voice for Tenants
In this open-to-all event, the focus will centre around the amplification of tenant voices and empowering them with more defining roles in the services they receive.
We’re excited to hear from Ann Harris (A Voice for Tenants), whose own journey has seen her push for more meaningful participation in social tenant voices and the housing sector. She sees potential in the wealth of practical knowledge from these groups making it all the way up to governance. And we do too.
Also leading this essential discussion will be Catherine Ryder, Head of Policy at the National Housing Federation. Catherine’s work on the Social Housing Green Paper has been seminal in shaping our understanding of a new vision for housing and drives us to make it better for everyone.
If you want to chat with the Plentific team at the event - maybe spin our wheel of fortune? - and find out more about how we can make your housing operations excellent, meet us at stand D44, or get in touch to arrange a meeting with Daniel, our Head of Business Development: firstname.lastname@example.org.
