How it works.

Register your interest 

Use the form below to register your interest and one of the team will be in touch to provide further information. To be eligible for one of our courses, you must be 19 or over, a resident in England and not currently in full-time education or employment. 

Watch one of our information sessions

Whether you're already qualified or are just thinking about a career in trade, we have a session for you. Our videos below provide unqualified women with an insight into the opportunities available for women in trade and information about training and employment. For those qualified, you will find out more about self-employment and how to start your own business, as well as the support we offer.

Discover Level 1: Certificate in Multiskills Construction

Watch our online information session where we were joined by our training provider, Learning Curve Group;  Denise Fowler, CEO of Women's Pioneer Housing and co-chair of the Women’s Housing Forum, and Zinnia Young a painter and decorator and winner of Youth Builder of the Year 2018. The session details what to expect from the course, progression routes for further education and apprenticeships, as well as the experiences of those working in the industry.

Discover Level 2: Creating a Business Start-Up

If you are already a qualified trade professional, join this online information session for insight into new career opportunities. This session will provide information on the different roles available - whether that’s alternative types of contractor firms,  in-house maintenance teams or to set up as a sole trader. Our experts will guide you through the options with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and hear from people who have followed a similar path.

Our training.

We have partnered with national training and education specialist, Learning Curve Group to provide our training courses. 

Level 1 Certificate in Multiskills Construction.

The course

Multiskills provides the broad skills required to succeed in a career in trade. It provides insight into a range of trades with an opportunity to try each one and decide which trade you want to focus on for further education once the course ends.

Approximate course length

Six weeks full-time

10 weeks part-time

170 learning hours

Skills learnt

Construction Health and Safety; Carpentry and joinery; Painting and decorating; Bricklaying; Tiling.

Upon completion of the Construction Health and Safety module, you will be eligible to apply for a CSCS card

Level 2 Creating a Business Start-Up.

The course

The level 2 Certificate in Creating a Business Start-Up will help you to explore business ideas and select the most appropriate option to develop. You will learn how to develop and progress your business plan so you fully understand your target market. The course will also teach you about marketing your business and the important legal and financial requirements you have to follow.

Approximate course length

Eight weeks (flexible)

Skills learnt

Principles of providing administrative services; Principles of business document production and information management; Understand communication in a business environment; Understand employer organisations; Understand how to develop working relationships with colleagues.

Once you complete your multi-skills for construction level one, Learning Curve Group will work with you to decide which area you would like to focus on and advise on further training opportunities. 

Apprenticeships and traineeships

We can support you in applying for apprenticeships or traineeships to complete your training on the job either through the Women's Trade Network partners or within the wider industry. 

Support

Our team is here to support you in deciding which route is best for you, as well as advise on mentorship and employment opportunities, as well as creating your own business.
