Beam and Plentific celebrate Uriah's inspirational story as he trains to become an electrician.

Uriah large

Meet Uriah.

Uriah first became homeless in 2015. He was living life recklessly at the time and using drugs. He describes his time being homeless as such a shift from normal life, it was nearly impossible to go back. He was cold, hungry. His spirit was low.

But he never gave up.

Homefinder gave him a break by helping him find somewhere to live. He's now staying with a Housing Association but he states benefits have only gotten him so far - and his debts are growing.

Beam has taken Uriah on board, working with him through this tough time to get him back on his feet.

And things are starting to look up.

Beam is helping Uriah train to become an electrician and fuelling his interest in renewable energy. He says he can't wait to get to college and learn a new skill, which will help him improve his life and regain his independence.

Uriah is passionate about construction, energy and electricity. He credits this to his father - who was a tradesperson all his life and gave Uriah the bug.

Uriah wishes he had the chance to do this sooner. He always felt like he was either too young, too old or not on time. Now he is seizing this opportunity. He credits it to Beam and to his family. He believes his children are his biggest motivation and he wants a debt-free life for them.

Plentific has just made a donation towards his £5,309 goal. And so can you.

This is what Uriah has to say:

Thanks for all the help received. I promise to learn and progress from this opportunity that you are giving me. I'll also remember that I was helped, and will pass on the knowledge of the skills that I learn to those coming from the same place and less fortunate. But most of all, I am so grateful that I'll be able to do better for my family and myself, and become more productive.”

Uriah is just one of the many people that Plentific is sponsoring through Beam to get trained in a trade, then get into work - so that they can live the secure, fulfilled and happy lives they want.

At Plentific, we work with social housing providers to improve repairs and maintenance work - and with it, open up big company contracts to local businesses. We do this because we believe very strongly in building local communities while making operations work better for our clients.

This means we are eager to collaborate with those who support our mission-driven approach. Beam takes referrals from charities, training people at leading third party providers and placing them with local employers, usually in the trades.

Our collaboration means we not only support Beam’s cause with donations but also offer opportunities for future employment to those with the drive, but not the means, to change their lives for the better.
